![]() Setup is simple and contrary to many comments, if you're playing on Remote Play to your console then you don't need to register or pay any subscription fees ever. There's no vibrate, which is a miss when the feeling of getting an alert while playing reminds you that if Backbone could tap into the phones vibrate that would add a whole layer of immersion. ![]() The buttons feel good and sticks and triggers work without concern although the range of movement does mean reduced precision compared to the original controller. In terms of the backbone, while I would be happier if the design was closer to the PS5 controller, it's still quite comfortable, although the lack of palm contours means if you're playing in a lying position it's hard to hold and keep your fingers in the right spot as gravity pulls it down. The main thing to realize about this product is that your experience is going to depend on two things Another important, thing is the finish and packaging, which was very premium and well put together, the quality of the sticks and buttons feel very good indeed, and while the device itself is very light, its not a sign of bad build quality but rather importantly how light it needs to be since you also have to consider the weight of the iPhone. I recommend this to anyone who wants to step away from their computer and play on a couch relaxing, or someone who perhaps doesn't have a good rig, and an Xbox Series S/X. Hence it you are looking to get this purely for apple arcade games or playing locally on you iPhone its probably not worth it, since you wont be getting the best out of the device. If you don’t have the money for a gaming PC this is a really good alternative.Īt the time of this review I have not yet tested how well Nvidia Geforce Now performs, but given how well the other three have performed, I have no doubt it will be just as good.Īll in all, however if the streaming services let you down its not because the Backbone One is a bad product, it could be because you don't have stable/good network, or that the streaming service is bad. Best part is some of these older titles play like a dream when remote playing. Steam Remote is by far the best performing out of all the others, but that could also be because I was playing slightly older games. Its a bit pricy at $170ish AUD but what you get is well worth the asking price. I love the Backbone app as well, I have used to for 20 or so hours so far and it hasn't crashed once (using an iPhone 13 Pro Max). Plus game pass ultimate is on sale for $1 for the first month at the time of this review, which is excellent. ![]() ![]() The controller works for all the popular remote play apps like Steam, PS5 and Xbox. If you have a fibre connection the input lag is barely noticeable, to almost non-existant. Usually I don't like cloud gaming, since I hate having any kind of input lag, but recently I had an accident and all I could hold was a controller, but I still wanted to play my PC games. I never write any reviews for products, but this thing is so well put together that I feel I owe it to the creators.
